Kinderview Privacy Policy

Kinderview is a video journal app that helps parents record short video interviews of their kids over time. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it.

The short version

Kinderview does not have a server. There is no account, no sign-in, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. Every video, child profile, and question you create is stored only in the app's local storage on your device. We — the developer — never see it, collect it, or have any way to access it.

What the app stores, and where

All app data (child names, birthdays, recorded videos, thumbnails, and your reminder preferences) is saved in a local database and local file storage on your device only. None of it leaves your device unless you personally choose to export a video (see below). If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

Permissions the app requests, and why

• Camera & Microphone — used only while you are actively recording a video interview inside the app. No footage is captured or transmitted outside of what you record.
• Notifications — used only to remind you, on your own device, about birthdays, first days of school, or your chosen recording cadence. These reminders are scheduled locally; no notification service or third party is involved.
• Photo Library (add-only) — requested only at the moment you tap "Save to Photos" on a specific video. This lets the app add that one video to your device's own Photos app. The app cannot browse, read, or modify anything else in your photo library.

What we don't do

• No accounts or sign-in of any kind.
• No cloud storage or sync of your videos or data.
• No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
• No sharing or selling of data to third parties — there is no data on any server to share in the first place.

Subscriptions

Kinderview offers an optional paid tier for unlimited video recordings. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple's App Store (and, on Android, Google Play) using the payment method on file with your Apple ID or Google account. Kinderview never receives or stores your card details — Apple and Google handle billing directly, under their own privacy policies.

Children's privacy

Kinderview is a tool for parents and guardians to record their own children; it is not directed at children as end users, and children are not expected to operate the app or manage its settings themselves. Because all content stays on the parent's own device and is never transmitted to us or any third party, Kinderview does not collect personal information from children in the way this term is typically used in children's privacy laws (e.g. COPPA). Data deletion

You can delete an individual video or child profile at any time from within the app. Deleting the app itself permanently removes all Kinderview data from your device, since nothing is stored anywhere else.

Changes to this policy

If Kinderview adds features that change how data is handled (for example, an optional cloud backup tier), this policy will be updated before that feature is available, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
